Cushman & Wakefield started in San Diego in 2008 after acquiring Burnham Real Estate. Burnham Real Estate was one of Southern California’s largest and oldest independent real estate firms, founded in San Diego in 1891. After the acquisition by Cushman & Wakefield founder John Burnham’s grandson Malin Burnham stayed on as Vice Chairman and continues to work at the firm.

Before merging with Cushman & Wakefield in 2015 DTZ had a prominent history in San Diego as well. Grubb & Ellis | BRE was founded in 1986 and acquired by Cassidy Turley in early 2010. In 2015 DTZ, a global leader in commercial real estate services announced that they had completed their acquisition of Cassidy Turley.

The established Charity Committee built up of Cushman Wakefield San Diego employees coordinate the best and most meaningful ways to give back to the community by both raising money for the community and dedicating their time to help make a difference.

For multiple years running Cushman & Wakefield and our employees have participated in the Baja Challenge where they travel to Mexico to help construct a house for a family. During the holiday season Cushman & Wakefield continues to participate with Home Start, Inc to Adopt a Family and provide gifts for the children of families that could use a little extra holiday cheer.

Cushman & Wakefield San Diego have also contributed to United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego, beach cleanups, the Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, and over 60 other San Diego community and industry organizations.
