Cushman & Wakefield Hired for Leasing of Manchester Pacific Gateway

New World Class, Mixed-Use Waterfront Development in Downtown San Diego Delivering 1MSF of Class A Office Space, Served by Retail, Restaurants and Hotels

Cushman & Wakefield Selected for Proven Local Expertise, Experience and Success

SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 31, 2018 – Cushman & Wakefield announced today the firm has been hired by Manchester Financial Group to provide leasing services for Manchester Pacific Gateway, a new mixed-use waterfront development in Downtown San Diego. The world class project is slated to feature over 1 million square feet (msf) of state-of the-art Class A office space, which will be served by unparalleled on-site amenities including nearly 300,000 square feet of curated shops and restaurants, as well as 1,335 luxury and convention center hotel rooms.

“We are excited to have a preeminent and world renowned company that will handle the leasing for this prestigious waterfront development,” stated Papa Doug Manchester, Chairman Emeritus of Manchester Financial Group.

Following the June 1, 2018 groundbreaking ceremony, Manchester Pacific Gateway is now officially available for pre-leasing with tenant occupancy dates available in 2020. Cushman & Wakefield veteran office specialists Brett Ward and Derek Hulse are managing the office leasing. Ward and Hulse have extensive experience leasing some of San Diego’s most iconic office developments, both new and existing construction, and combined bring more than 33 years of leasing success to this new prestigious assignment.

“We are thrilled to have been hired as the leasing team for Manchester Pacific Gateway, which will become one of the most stunning mixed-use, waterfront developments on the West Coast,” said Ward, who also leads Cushman & Wakefield’s Office Division in San Diego and is one of the firm’s top office brokers. “A full service waterfront project of this magnitude is extremely rare and hard to find anywhere along the entire western seaboard. The development will provide a unique opportunity for tenants wanting the ultimate luxurious coastal workplace experience, complete with numerous well-appointed office features along with concierge services, and immediate access to hotels, restaurants and retail.”

Hulse added, “We are already seeing interest from tenants locally as well as tenants regionally who are looking to establish a presence here. One of the most advantageous aspects of this project is its ability to accommodate a wide range of tenants, from traditional and creative office users to high tech, life sciences, medtech, and more. We are just starting construction, therefore pre-lease tenants have a prime opportunity to choose the building and location that best suits their specific needs and environment.”

Uniquely located on the North Embarcadero of the San Diego Bay, Manchester Pacific Gateway is a landmark project offering over 1 msf of Class A office space across four distinctively and culturally designed mixed-use buildings. Designed for LEED Gold neighborhood development accreditation, the Class A buildings range from prominent and breathtaking high rise towers with sweeping inland and ocean views to prominent mid-rise buildings with panoramic city and bay views. The development also features large efficient floor plates, athletic/fitness centers, covered parking, valet service, and expansive outdoor and rooftop decks.

In addition to the aforementioned retail and hotel amenities, there will be 4.5 acres of public open space, including a 1.9-acre plaza for tenants to enjoy the beautiful Southern California climate and lifestyle. This thoughtfully designed development is also strategically positioned to offer alternative transportation solutions with accessibility to a myriad of public transportation services. Its proximity to the San Diego International Airport and Tijuana International Airport offers convenient mobility options to national and international tenants.

Hulse noted, “Nothing of this scale and quality has ever been built in Downtown San Diego, and there is no further land to develop along the Downtown waterfront, so this project is truly one-of-a-kind.  Manchester Pacific Gateway will forever define our Downtown San Diego waterfront while transcending the market by offering the best in office, hotel, retail, food and beverage.”
