SAN DIEGO, Calif. – July 2, 2018 – Cushman & Wakefield announced today that GreatCall, the leader in connected health for active aging, has opened its brand new Class A corporate headquarters in San Diego. GreatCall’s employees along with corporate management recently moved into more than 55,000 square feet of finely built-out office space that just finished construction at 10945 Vista Sorrento Pkwy. GreatCall’s new multi-story headquarters remains positioned within Pacific Plaza, a prestigious office project overlooking the Torrey Pines Mesa where the company has operated for many years.
According to Tom van Betten, Executive Director with Cushman & Wakefield in San Diego, who represents GreatCall, “Retaining its presence within Pacific Plaza, the company moved just steps away from its prior address into a different building; nonetheless, it still represents a complex relocation.” He added, “The move provided the company with a fantastic opportunity to work off a ‘blank slate’ from a design standpoint, and they were 100% focused on meeting the needs of their growing workforce, which they have with this spectacular space.”
“Our culture is one of the reasons we are successful, and we wanted our space to represent what is important to GreatCall,” says Brian Berning, GreatCall’s CFO. “From a ‘functional fitness’ room, showers and lockers, to a private patio for cooling off after a workout or unwinding after a long day, the real estate team made sure that all employee feedback was taken into consideration as the design was finalized.”
David Inns, the CEO of GreatCall said, “We are a leader in connected health, and we want our offices to support how progressive our company really is.”
The relocation of its headquarters represents the second significant real estate move GreatCall has made in San Diego over the last 18 months. Back in early 2017, and just a few miles north, the company had also relocated its customer care center in Carlsbad into more than 60,000 sf at 2200 Faraday Ave., aka Studio 2200, a two-story 228,138-sf building within the prestigious 560-acre master planned Carlsbad Research Center. Mr. van Betten also represented GreatCall in that negotiation, with Aric Starck of Cushman & Wakefield’s San Diego office representing the landlord. That strategic move into larger space allowed GreatCalls’ employees to work interactively on the same floor while also offering a number of other amenities and functional benefits.
Mr. Inns closed, “GreatCall has been thrilled with its expansion and creating jobs within our hometown of San Diego County, where we now operate in some of the area’s top work environments.”
